Joe was a long-standing member of Bexhill Chess Club (he was also a member of Hastings & St Leonards Chess Club). He will be remembered for his great sense of humour (he specialised in one-line quips) and for his chess ability. Even towards the end he showed amazing stamina at the chessboard, playing as many as 15 blitz games over three hours one afternoon last year and winning the majority. R. I. P., Joe.

From afar, our familys are scattered all over the world, but my time with you will always be memorable and treasured for a life time. Our trip to Brighton to see Jan, stopping and having lunch.. The stories you shared haven't been forgotten, nor will you. Matt & Rosie Blake & family.(Australia)
